This is her story:

Turning back the clock
I considered a face lift at least 5 years ago. I had a pretty full-on life with a lot of hardships that left my face look very tired and worn out. I was always skinny as well so my skin started sagging even more after losing some more weight.
Years of smoking and sunbaking revealed even more signs of aging. I had some Injectables and fillers done the last 2 years but wanted something more permanent.

For at least 3 years, I have been reading the case studies on the GG website but never took the step to actually get a quote. I made the decision to give myself a present for my 50th birthday in December – a full face and necklift, so I booked the trip and was off in October.

I had worked in mining for a while- had the money and the time, so it was now or never. I went to Malaysia because I knew the prices at home would be too expensive and I wanted to have the time to recover in peace .

I traveled alone as my husband couldn’t come. I was not nervous but happy I finally took the step and just wanted to get it over and done with. I just told my kids and close friends. I think they were more worried than I was!!! The only thing that made me nervous was how I was gonna look and if it would be worthwhile in the end.

My choice – Twilight Sedation
I had my consultation with Dr Wong the day after arrival. He took me to the recovery room where a woman just had a face and necklift under twillight sedation. I had a talk with her and felt more confident to have my procedures done under twillight. Just didn’t want to stay in hospital for days. I have not enough patience to be a good patient !!!

Dr Wong is a great surgeon if you know what you want but don’t expect any chit-chat.

I was very relaxed the day of the surgery, went in at 8.30 and was under twillight 30 min later. I was very sedated but still aware of what was happening, but absolutely no pain at all. 4 and a half hours later, I got off the table myself, stayed in recovery for 2 hours with icepacks on my face, had a cup of coffee and went back to my hotel.

A quick recovery
The first 3 days were very uncomfortable but no pain, didnt even take painkillers but slept a lot and used a lot of ice packs. Took arnica pills 4 weeks before and up to 6 weeks after but had almost no bruising compared to women who had facelift under general anaesthetics. 6 days after, I was riding an elephant!!!

I shopped a lot with a few great ladies I met in the hotel. Shopping centers are nice and cool as the heat outside makes you swell up more.

Au naturel
I am very happy with the results. I just look fresher and less tired and very natural. Just feel more confident about myself now but still look like ME.

People who don’t know I had something done comment that I look relaxed. Dr Wong gave me a photo DVD from before, during and after the operation and that’s where it really showed the changes and the amount of skin he took off!!!

Don’t panic if you wake up one morning, look in the mirror and think “What the hell did I do to myself…?” Everyone has good and bad days while recovering.

My advice would be – if you wanna do it, go for it. All the GG people in KL are wonderful and by the time you leave you feel like leaving friends behind. I am so pleased with GG that I recommended them to some of my friends and one of them is going next month. Only wish I had the time to go with her.

I know I will go back soon to have LASIK on my eyes and can’t wait to see everybody again!!!

Thanks GG for the trip of a lifetime!!!!
