The health and safety of our customers and employees is our primary concern and we are doing everything we can to ensure their well-being. The current situation across our destinations at a glance
We have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak and are following the guidelines set out by the Public Health Agency of Canada, Global Affairs Canada and the local government regulations for the countries we operate in. It’s worth noting that the destinations we fly to throughout the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America have been deemed as low risk for COVID-19 by the Government of Canada. According to the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Situation Report, as of March 10, 2020 there are currently less than 25 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the destinations where we operate.
Sunwing is doubling down on its regular cleaning program to ensure our customers have a healthy flying experience.
At the airport: Most airports we operate out of have established additional procedures with the Public Health Agency to screen passengers and minimize the risk of virus transmission. This may include messaging on arrivals screens, additional health screening questions and consultations with third-party health providers. If we believe passengers are unfit to travel, they are denied boarding – for the well-being of themselves, their fellow customers and our employees.
In flight: We use cleaning products which have proven to be effective against human coronavirus on our aircraft. All areas (including lavatories, galleys and tray tables) that passengers and crew routinely come into close contact with, are regularly cleaned and disinfected. We also carry out an extensive sanitation program on each aircraft on a regular basis. Our aircraft are also fitted with HEPA filters to reduce the spread of airborne pathogens in recirculated air. Our staff are trained in infectious diseases protocol and can access real-time medical advice in flight if need be.
At your destination
Our destination teams are closely monitoring the impact of the COVID-19 virus in each of the locations that we operate and pledge to share updates with you as quickly as possible, with full transparency, with your safety foremost in mind.
24/7 Care: Once you arrive at your destination, you will meet your Sunwing Experiences representative who is at your disposal should you encounter any issues during your stay. You’ll also find a 24/7 contact number for when you are travelling on your e-documents and will be provided with your local Sunwing Experiences representative’s contact details upon arrival.
Cleaning: The resorts that we partner with have also implemented proactive and precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the virus. From daily sanitation practices and disinfecting surfaces to hand sanitizer and pool chlorination best practices, resorts are equipped to ensure guests have access to the safe, clean environments they expect. Your representative will be able to tell you more during your welcome briefing and will remain on hand throughout your stay should you need any more information.
Travel with confidence
For new bookings, we are offering a lot of flexibility to help you book your travel with confidence:
Waiving fees: For bookings made between March 4 and March 19, 2020 we are waiving any administration fees associated with the first change; as long as this is requested at least 14 days prior to the intended date of travel. This new policy applies to all new bookings made within the above time frame with a departure date from now up to and including June 24, 2020.
Worry Free Policy: If you are looking for added reassurance and peace of mind, you could also take out our Worry Free Cancellation Waiver. From just $49 per person, this lets you can cancel your booking for any reason up to three hours prior to departure and receive a full refund either in cash or travel vouchers.
